Solarcap's solar lights are manufactured using brilliant high quality multi-colored LED lights and a patented ultra-capacitor energy storage medium. The ultra-capacitor which stores the solar energy to run the lights is rated for 100,000 cycles (1 cycle is equivalent to 1 full charge and 1 full discharge; typically 1 day). Rechargeable batteries commonly used in solar lighting have a rating of approximately 1,000 cycles (100th. the life of an ultra-capacitor). The performance of rechargeable batteries deteriorates in cold weather where ultra-capacitors function without any degradation in performance from -40F to +158F (-40C +70C).
